Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel

Twice barreled for added complexity, Toasted Barrel takes our award-winning Small Batch Bourbon to new heights. After it's fully matured, we finish this Bourbon in a second, custom toasted new oak barrel, where it’s left to develop even more sweet oak flavor.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

The nose of B521 is classic Elijah Craig, a burly, lightly smoky monster that’s loaded with barrel char, cloves, old leather, and musty book notes, though hints of incense point toward something a bit more exotic. You’ll find just that when you first sip the spirit, which surprises with a considerable sweetness driven by brown butter, butterscotch, and cinnamon. There’s more clove here, too, but it’s outweighed heavily by the more sugary elements. The finish fades to reveal a lovely milk chocolate and vanilla note, with lingering spices clinging to the tongue. A touch of menthol is evident on the finale as the sweetness finally drops off, revealing seductive notes of rich leather and oily bronze wood. Adding water doesn’t change the whiskey’s complexion much at all.
At “barely” 61% alcohol, B521 comes across like a juice box in comparison to most of the Barrel Proof releases. That should not dissuade you, though, from picking up a bottle, as a little magic can often be found in gentler outliers like this.

Heaven Hill 7 Year

The Bourbon offers a smooth, warm flavor profile of caramel and honey, mingled with just enough oak and char to round out the richness.  The finish is especially satisfying, a balance of pleasant spice notes that meld with the oak and just the right amount of sweet caramel.  

Henry McKenna 10 YearMade by Heaven Hill Distillery, this Henry McKenna bottling is a Bottled-In-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Aged 10 years, this release is also a single barrel release with each bottle bearing both the bottling date and the barrel number. Single barrel whiskeys are unique bottlings so your mileage may vary, but you'll generally be sipping a rye-drinker's bourbon. Big, bold, spicy and a great choice for an Old Fashioned--go easy on the sugar, amp up the bitters a bit and garnish with a single orange peel.
