Crafted in the heart of the West Indies at the renowned Barbados Distillery, this exquisite rum begins its journey with molasses as its raw material. The fermentation process spans 3-4 days, followed by distillation through a column still and Gregg’s Farm Pot Still. This rum's distinct character is shaped by tropical aging: four years in bourbon casks, one year in Ferrand casks, and a final year in a 225L Calvados cask. This unique finishing process imparts delightful apple and ester notes, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. The Plantation Barbados 6 Year Single Cask Rum is a testament to the art of rum-making, offering a complex and refined tasting experience that is both rich and memorable.

Tasting Notes for Plantation Barbados 6 Year Single Cask Rum - Calvados Finish

On the nose, savor milk chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla, candied fruits, fresh wood, lightly vegetal, peppery and nutty tones. The palate is sweet and intense: caramelized apple as in tarte tatin or apple pie, ginger, cocoa and light smoky notes. To finish, vanilla and spices, old pear brandy.

Suggested Serves

Sip neat or on ice.  Excellent in classic cocktails that call for a molasses-based aged rum. Try in a Rum Sidecar or a Rum Old-Fashioned.

Production Notes

Plantation Single Cask rums are limited releases of double-aged rums. All Plantation rums mature in a two-stage ageing process, beginning in the tropics where they age in bourbon casks, and then at the Château de Bonbonnet in France to mature in Ferrand barrels. Plantation Single Cask rums then benefit from further maturation in carefully selected beer, wine or spirit casks, each selected to enhance the rum's unique characteristics. Every Single Cask rum takes its own ageing path to greatness, and each bottle is personalized and numbered. Only a few barrels of these unique reserve rums are bottled annually, making them a prize for collectors.
