Kate Gerwin recommends , aged 3–5 years in ex-bourbon barrels, for its fine quality, deep notes of caramelized fruit, and distinct St. Lucia style. But as Kate says, one of “the most unique aspect of Chairman’s Reserve, besides the fact that they don’t add additives, is that they don’t emphasize age statements—because the late ‘Chairman,’ Laurie Barnard, believed that no single barrel of rum could ever be better or as interesting as a blend of different components. Chairman’s utilizes three different pot stills of varying types and sizes and a column still, which provides lots of different charactered distillates to create their blends.”
