Indiana Straight Rye 2017 Tasting Notes

Picture this: A baseball game with freshly oiled bats and gloves, food stalls serving rye sandwiches with peppery pastrami and popcorn, all washed down with peated whisky. 

Tasting notes without water

Colour: Mahogany

Nose: Rye, campfire ashes, orange pancakes, mango pudding, whipped cream, crème brûlée, strawberry gum, liquorice, gunpowder, school glue, paper mache and tires.

Palate: Rum-dipped bananas on rye bread and butter pudding, jelly beans, fruit jellies, milk chocolate bunnies, honey and a beeswax-polished oak desk.

Finish: Liquorice and syrup with rye rolls spread with heather honey.

Tasting notes with water

Nose: Rum and raisin fudge, buttered rye bread, chai tea, coconut ice cream, lychees, Malbec, milk chocolate cherry liqueurs and beeswax.

Mouth: Smoked pastries, buttered rum, rye rusks, butterscotch, profiteroles filled with whipped cream.

Finish: Buttered rum, ginger, cloves, star anise, rye rolls and raspberry jam.
